Monitoring Services

Every ADT Medical Alert plan includes 24/7 monitoring via the company’s US-based monitoring center. If you are in difficulty, you can press the personal help button on your medical alert device. A fall detection pendant (optional upgrade not available on all plans) can also send an automatic alert if you have an accident. In either of these cases, an ADT Medical Alert representative will respond by voice through the medical alert device, and you can reply to confirm your status. Representatives are trained in senior-sensitivity, so they’ll approach you with the highest level of care.

If you don’t respond, or if you tell the representatives that you would like a loved one or caregiver to attend, ADT will reach out to them. If ADT is not able to reach the first nominated caregiver on your list, company representatives will keep trying until they reach someone. You can also call emergency services through your device. This can be much easier than trying to use a phone, and quicker in those situations where time is critical.

Product Features

ADT Medical Alert’s devices are designed to make it easy for you to get help when it’s needed. The devices differ slightly from plan to plan, but all plans come with the following:

  • A base unit with an emergency help button and speaker for two-way communication
  • A waterproof pendant or wristband so help can be activated even when moving around the home
  • Free battery replacements for the above devices
  • ADT team ready to respond 24/7 if you push the emergency help button

ADT Medical Alert’s static base devices are designed to be used in the home and can even monitor home temperature. These work in tandem with a wristband or pendant device so you can call for help if you are in a different room from your base unit. The base units have a limited range, outside of which the pendants won’t work. However, if you purchase the On-The-Go plan, you’ll also get a mobile base unit, which you can take with you if you go out. This device also includes GPS location so you can be found easily.

Several upgrades are available with some of ADT’s plans. You can upgrade pendants to fall detection, enabling these pendants to automatically detect when you’ve had an accident and send an alert without your intervention. Another option adds extra wall-mounted emergency buttons so you know exactly where to go in your home if you need quick support.

Installation Process

To install your devices, you just need to follow a few simple steps.

  • Select a location for your base unit (somewhere that is easily accessible)
  • Connect to the phone cord (for the Basic system)
  • Plug into an electrical outlet
  • Make sure the unit is switched on and the backup battery switch is also on
  • Call ADT for activation

You can conduct a monthly test on your device by holding the test button on the base unit and pressing the emergency button on either the base unit or your pendant. If the test is successful, the base unit will tell you so. No emergency services or caregivers will be called during a test.
